He had it as a Christmas present, and it's received a lot of playtime. He especially loves that it has a towbar on the back which means he can connect it to all his other duplo cars (the basic base ones) and pull everything around the house together. The little crate, to go on the back is a great little item and the strawberry brick a nice touch. My son (aged 2.5) simply loves this car. He had it as a Christmas present, and it’s received a lot of playtime. He especially loves that it has a towbar on the back which means he can connect it to all his other duplo cars (the basic base ones) and pull everything around the house together. The little crate, to go on the back is a great little item and the strawberry brick a nice touch. Good value for the money.

I bought this set, and a few others, for my daughter and i think i’ve played with it more!!! Not that the little one hasn’t tried, she just has to beat me to the pieces!! The buggy even has suspension (of sorts) and will continue to get lots of use i’m sure!!

Takes roughly 5 hours to build it correctly. Complicated dif assembly but satisfying when you get it completed. Kit still requires an electronic speed controller, battery, remote control and servo to make the kit fully functional. Very fast car with excellent handling and runs great on all surfaces be it tarmac, sand and even grass. An excellent 4wd remote control car. Takes roughly 5 hours to build it correctly. Complicated dif assembly but satisfying when you get it completed. Kit still requires an electronic speed controller, battery, remote control and servo to make the kit fully functional. Very fast car with excellent handling and runs great on all surfaces be it tarmac, sand and even grass. I also have an old Tamiya Madcap and this car leaves it for dust but then again the Madcap is nearly 23 years old!

I got this kit when I was 14 and was able to build it myself without any help. I wouldn't advise letting a child build the kit by themselves though if you are giving this as a gift for a child if they haven't had any experience in building RC cars before hand. make sure your by their side to make sure they don't do anything dangerous or are damaging parts. This chassis gives great stability and a great starter kit for people wishing to get into This hobby as it is quite easy to assemble. I got this kit when I was 14 and was able to build it myself without any help. I wouldn’t advise letting a child build the kit by themselves though if you are giving this as a gift for a child if they haven’t had any experience in building RC cars before hand. make sure your by their side to make sure they don’t do anything dangerous or are damaging parts. This isn’t because the kits hard to assemble but for safety and common sense. I only built it young because I had previous experience and new what I was doing. I’d advise though if you are going to get this kit to also buy a slipper clutch to help protect the gears.

A very dramatic and impressive "space wheel", the central control pod of which can be detached to become a a saucer-shaped smaller UFO. There is a nice-looking alien pilot, a helpless human reporter to be snatched away and a small alien beast which can be placed on the reporter's head (in the way you would attach a Lego minifig's space helmet) in order to take over her mind and put her to work creating whatever gas the aliens need to breathe (sorry, I'm a fan of Quatermass). Included in the set is another of those "sound pieces" (which comes with battery). Rotate the wheel or the central control pod and the sound brick will make an appropriate alien-sounding noise. There is also a flexible arm under the ship for collecting unsuspecting humans.<br/><br/>All in all, a great set. Imaginative use of Lego pieces (including curved railways) and a first-class design. As alien spaceships go, this is up there with the best Lego designs. A very dramatic and impressive “space wheel”, the central control pod of which can be detached to become a a saucer-shaped smaller UFO. There is a nice-looking alien pilot, a helpless human reporter to be snatched away and a small alien beast which can be placed on the reporter’s head (in the way you would attach a Lego minifig’s space helmet) in order to take over her mind and put her to work creating whatever gas the aliens need to breathe (sorry, I’m a fan of Quatermass). Included in the set is another of those “sound pieces” (which comes with battery). Rotate the wheel or the central control pod and the sound brick will make an appropriate alien-sounding noise. There is also a flexible arm under the ship for collecting unsuspecting humans.

All in all, a great set. Imaginative use of Lego pieces (including curved railways) and a first-class design. Children and adult fans of Lego will love it.

Having purchased the largest set off Amazon to do prototyping work, I was expecting to get a reasonable selection of parts - but the 50-model kit comes with only 2 of each of the longer strips, and certainly does not have the 2-foot length strips that I remember from the older set. Flat plates are also largely missing, replaced by specific shapes such as box sections (which might actually be pretty useful if I just had more of the traditional parts to go with them).<br/><br/>Having belatedly looked online, I realise that rather than provide general kits that can be turned into anything, Meccano now focus on providing specific parts to make specific eye-catching models. While I like Meccano, and spent hours as a child playing with my grandfather’s old set, the new Meccano was a bit of a disappointment to me. Having purchased the largest set off Amazon to do prototyping work, I was expecting to get a reasonable selection of parts – but the 50-model kit comes with only 2 of each of the longer strips, and certainly does not have the 2-foot length strips that I remember from the older set. Flat plates are also largely missing, replaced by specific shapes such as box sections (which might actually be pretty useful if I just had more of the traditional parts to go with them).
